A new study suggests that an eye medication called terbinafine may reduce the risk of developing a heart attack in people taking it.
In one trial, an oral medication that is used to treat fungal infections such as athlete’s foot and athlete’s foot skin infections, terbinafine (brand name Lamisil) was found to be more effective than a similar oral medicine.
The study, conducted at the University of Rochester Medical Center and the University of Wisconsin, was published today inBMJ Open, with findings reported today in the journalJAMA Open.
Terbinafine is a class of medications known as benzodiazepines. It works by relaxing the muscles of the brain and spinal cord and may be effective in treating conditions like, or anxiety or depression.
The drug was first approved in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002 for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. It is also used off-label to treat depression, and for anxiety in children, among other conditions.
Terbinafine was first approved by the FDA in the United States for the treatment of fungal infections in athletes and children. A similar drug was approved in the U. S. for the treatment of skin and nail infections in athletes. In 2002, the FDA approved Terbinafine for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and nails in athletes.
The study involved 23 patients, all men, aged 18 to 55, with a diagnosis of athlete’s foot or athlete’s foot skin infections. Patients were randomly assigned to receive terbinafine or placebo. Patients who had had fungal infections had to take a single dose (4 grams) of terbinafine and a placebo dose for four weeks.
Patients taking terbinafine were monitored daily for signs of discomfort or worsening of their condition, including a headache, dizziness, or seizures. All patients taking placebo had to take a dose of one dose of terbinafine in a day, and the dose of terbinafine was not altered.
The study also included 24 patients with fungal infections in the early stages of life, and the median age was 51.2 years.
“This is an important study that has shown that terbinafine and alcohol can improve the quality of life for many people,” said Dr. Steven Nissen, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the lead author of the study.
The researchers noted that terbinafine has been used for many years in treating and preventing certain types of fungal infections in people who have diabetes or other medical conditions, such as, or to treat or prevent certain types of cancers. They also noted that the drug can be used to treat fungal infections in children and adults who cannot or do not take other medications. They also noted that terbinafine may be a good option for people who have not been well treated with other medications.
The study found that terbinafine was superior to placebo in terms of reducing the risk of developing a heart attack in people taking it for fungal infections.
“This is a landmark clinical study that demonstrated that terbinafine was a better choice for people with diabetes who have not been well treated with other medications,” said Dr. Michael L. Weisler, the lead author of the study.

In the study, patients were randomly assigned to receive one dose of terbinafine, one dose of placebo, or a placebo pill.
The patients were monitored every 3 months for symptoms of discomfort, worsening of their condition, or a worsening of their condition, and were asked to stop taking terbinafine and to continue taking the placebo pill.
